Rather than take the sound value from the historical sources they name, they imagine new sound values that, of course, are not accepted because they cannot actually read the Voynich. In my 2013 article I circle or otherwise indicate the actual Voynich glyphs used in various texts generally from the Valley of Mexico, and generally dated from 1535 to 1565. EVA t, the tall gallows figure with two loops is transcribed as tl by the authors of the article in which the reader may see for themselves the form of the letter and the transcription of the word in which it occurs. The tl in the form of the Voynich letter does not occur in any of the sources named by Tucker or Janick, but in the Codex of San Toribio Xicotzinco.
